HOK Sport unveils 2012 Olympic Stadium in London

Aug. 11, 2010

Kansas City-based HOK Sport has unveiled the design for the flagship venue for the 2012 Olympics Games in London. Olympic Stadium will accommodate 80,000 spectators, and after the Games will be transformed into a multipurpose venue. A cable-net roof will support the primary lighting system and will be wrapped with a fabric membrane, providing shelter and shade for the occupants. The facility will contain 25,000 permanent seats on the lower bowl and 55,000 temporary seats on the upper bowl, which will be dismantled after the Games, creating the smaller, permanent stadium.
