Valspar coatings keep metal roofs pristine for decades

Metal roofs have become extremely popular in recent years, due to their durability, energy efficiency, and environmental performance. These roofs can last for 40 to 70 years, can lower energy bills, and are recyclable at the end of their useful life. Now, metal roofs are available in more designs than ever before.

The coil coating process is used to ensure uniform color, gloss, and thickness. Pre-painted sheets of metal are then formed into shingles, shakes, curves, and other distinctive architectural designs. This enables design freedom in both the shape and color of roofing materials. Scalloped tiles and granular surfaces give the appearance of ceramic, with the durability of metal.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and silicone-modified polyester (SMP) are the most common coatings for metal roofs. Valspar creates coatings; Fluropon® and WeatherXL™, for metal roofs that have excellent performance and durability characteristics, keeping projects pristine for decades to come.
