Grand Cancun to be first net-zero energy luxury eco-tourism resort
Grand Cancun designed by Richard’s Architecture + Design will be the world’s first net-zero energy luxury eco-tourism resort.
Using a marine platform concept instead of an artificial island, the development will create more space with less impact in the fragile marine ecosystem. The mega building will be totally self-sufficient, with hotels, convention centers, malls, and cinemas.
It will have a zero-carbon footprint while providing the city clean drinking water and energy from renewable resources including solar, wind, tidal, and geothermal.
The structure will collect rainwater and create potable water through desalination. Features include technology to clean seawater by filtering hydrocarbons and floating solids.
