Composite paneling keeps new atrium flying high at Oklahoma University Children’s Hospital

The atrium of the Oklahoma University’s Children’s Hospital atrium was designed by Miles Associates and the St. Louis office of HOK with its young patients in mind. The curved roofline of the atrium reflects the fluid movement of a kite, constructed with a combination of glass skylights and standing seam metal roofing with Alucobond Aluminum Composite Material by 3A Composites USA installed as cladding. A total of 46,739 sf of Alucobond ACM in 6mm ‘Silver Metallic’ was fabricated for the atrium by Architectural Fabricators Co., Bartlesville, Okla. The product provides flatness and rigidity, formability, low weight, and weather resistance.
