Waterproof membrane, footing form system help create efficient basement foundation for 72,000-sf mansion

In Highlandville, Mo., Steven Huff of Wisconsin-based concrete company TF Forming Systems is building a 72,000-sf mansion, called Pensmore, to serve as a model for sustainability. "It's not feasible to continuously demolish and rebuild structures over time," Huff said. "If you can construct a building that will last for more than a century, that greatly reduces your operational costs and stands as the true definition of sustainable." For Pensmore's basement foundation, Huff selected CertainTeed's Platon waterproofing membrane to provide wall and under-slab moisture control protection, as well as CertainTeed's Form-A-Drain foundation footing system.
