Stainless steel remedial tying system enlisted to help preserve historic tower in Detroit

The historic Broderick Tower in Detroit was the third-tallest abandoned building in the United States when Motown Construction Partners set out to restore it. When construction began in March 2011, there were budget concerns over how to repair the building's exterior limestone corners. The project's assembly contractor, Atkins Construction, enlisted Helifix Inc., Streetsboro, Ohio, to provide its DryFix Remedial Tying System and secure the loose terra cotta and limestone on all four corners of the building's 34 floors. DryFix remedial ties are engineered from austenitic-grade stainless steel and provide strong axial restraint in both tension and compression. BD+C
