Saginaw Valley State University’s Pioneer Hall is the first LEED Silver certified building on the Kochville Township, Mich., campus. Led by architectural firm Wigen Tincknell Meyer & Associates, the Building Team designed the $16 million project to accommodate a rapidly growing student body. About 30,000 sf of laboratories, offices, and gathering spaces were added to the building, while the existing 46,000 sf of space was renovated. Tubelite’s 400 series curtain wall was used for the project, installed by glazing contractor Calvin & Co., Flint, Mich. The product’s aluminum framing uses EcoLuminum, a recycled-content aluminum billet composition with environmentally friendly finishes, improving the building’s energy efficiency.
