Freemason HQ brings centuries-old fraternity to Chicago suburb

Nov. 10, 2011

The Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, owned by the Scottish Rite Cathedral Assn. of Chicago, is part of the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world, the Freemasons. Spearheaded by tvsdesign and Leopardo Companies, construction is under way on a new headquarters for the group in Bloomingdale, Ill. Embodying the symbolic origins of traditional Masonic culture, the structure uses stone and brick and is set in a wooded, 16.25-acre site. The headquarters encompasses 61,000 sf and two stories. A 270-seat auditorium, dining hall, lodge, museum, library, and administrative offices provide an ideal setting for Master Masons to congregate.
