Freestanding replacement hospital opens in NY

Oct. 11, 2011

The Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill, N.Y., has opened its doors, with HBE Corp. as general contractor. The $195.5 million, 621,000-sf hospital replaces the Horton Medical Center in Middleton, N.Y., and the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen, N.Y., both more than 40 years old. At seven stories in height, the hospital features 374 private patient rooms, an emergency department, helipad, three-bay ambulance garage, advanced birthing center, surgical suite, cardiac rehabilitation center, and radiology rooms. Electronic medical records, a healing garden, and outside dining patio help bolster environmental conservancy goals.
