A new 183,000-sf judicial center in Augusta, Ga., will help accommodate local population growth and save taxpayers more than $30 million. The Augusta-Richmond County Judicial Center and John H. Ruffin Jr. Courthouse comprises eight courtrooms, nine hearing rooms, a grand jury room, judges’ chambers, and several offices for district officials. Designed by Atlanta-based Turner Associates, the four-story structure cost $62 million. Beginning operations in May, the center was a landmark project for the county, helping residents save on annual economic costs. Heery International was the contractor.
