New York-based architect Kevin Kennon—of Kevin Kennon Architects PC—has designed a new 90,000-sm mixed-use commercial building for Eco-City in Tianjin, China. The 200-meter-tall building will house office space and a luxury shopping center and will generate 20% of its clean energy on site through hydrogen fuel cells, solar panels, and wind turbines. Developed by Tianjin Real Estate Development and Management Group Ltd. and Beijing Victory Star Executive Architects, the tower combines nature and technology with about 50 atriums bringing plant life and natural light to the building. Instead of the usual four corners, the office building will have 18 corners, greatly enhancing the marketability of the project.
