Nearly 650 gallons of StoGuard was applied to the SOF Aviation Battalion Education Center at Lewis-McChord Air Force Base, in Washington state. Designed by Burgess & Niple Architects, Columbus, Ohio, the facility has 35,000 sf of classroom and auditorium space and is targeting LEED Silver. The center had to meet the government’s air barrier requirements, which mandated an air leakage rate no greater than 0.25cfm/sf at a pressure differential of 0.3w.g. Infrared thermography was also used to test for air leakage. The StoGuard fluid-applied waterproof air barrier coated the entire exterior of the building, helping the facility exceed air barrier requirements with a rating of between 0.18 and 0.19cfm/sf.
