New system offers options for data center cooling

Jan. 10, 2011

The EcoBreeze cooling system for data centers uses both indirect evaporative and air-to-air heat exchange, automatically switching between the two methods to provide consistent cooling. The manufacturers claims it is the only system that does not allow outside air and data center air to meet. The 50kW modules can be grouped in sets of four or eight to allow for system redundancy during maintenance, and can accommodate multiple frame sizes and varying voltages and phases, meeting ASHRAE 90.1/TC 9.9. The system uses R401a refrigerant. An onboard water treatment system means no chemical water treatment is needed.
