Sound barrier material sets STC record

Aug. 11, 2010

A 12¾-inch-thick common block wall assembly fitted with Acoustiblok sound barrier material has achieved the highest Sound Transmission Class rating (STC 70) ever recorded at Architectural Testing Inc. Results for the ASTM-E90 classification test were recently released by the York, Pa.-based testing facility. The sound-resistant wall assembly can result in savings for developers of condos, schools, and other buildings that require minimal sound transmission room to room.
