The Wayne and Gladys Valley Business and Technology Center is the first new academic building on the California State University Hayward Campus in more than 30 years. To create the building's monolithic white form and distinct grey stripes, design architect VBN Architecture, Oakland, specified more than 30,000 sf of Formawall Dimension Series two-inch architectural foam panels in off-white and chromium gray. The panels feature concealed clips, fasteners, and sealants, providing a clean, uninterrupted appearance while minimizing exterior dirt streaking and staining. The Cradle to Cradle-certified panels also provide advanced thermal efficiency and moisture control, and can withstand drastic climate changes and severe weather.
The architect also specified Formavue windows, which are specifically designed to provide a high-performance window/panel interface with Formawall panels. The windows completely eliminate the problems of coordinating window and metal panel system intersections. Formavue window systems are weather resistant and feature a standard thermal break for enhanced thermal performance.
