LED downlights ideal for MRI rooms

Aug. 11, 2010

Using less than 60 watts of electrical energy to deliver 50 foot candles of light at task level, equivalent to the amount of light produced by a 150-watt incandescent light fixture, the MedLux XLS II LED downlight can decrease the amount of energy hospitals use while increasing the productivity of their MRI rooms. The dimmer control, which can be located inside or outside the shield room, provides consistent color temperature at all lighting levels and is fast reacting when full light is needed quickly. LEDs are ideal for sensitive environments like MRI rooms because they do not use filaments, which are prone to early failure due to high magnetic fields, and do not create radio frequency noise, which some incandescent light sources can generate at the time of their failure, creating artifacts on patient scans.
