HOK’s latest project, the 67-story Hertsmere House in London, received approval for construction from the Tower Hamlets’ Strategic Development Committee last month.

At 789 feet, the building will be Western Europe’s tallest residential tower. It will be located in the city’s West India Quay district, next to Canary Wharf, and it will have 861 private and affordable homes with 60 additional affordable homes in an adjacent development.

HOK designed the tower to have a rounded petal-shaped exterior, creating a visual separation from other skyscrapers in the London skyline. The development will have shops, cafes, and community amenities, like roof terraces, winter gardens, and public spaces.

Construction will begin on Hertsmere House later this year, and it is expected to be completed by 2020. The new development will replace a 1980s office building, also named Hertsmere House.

HOK worked with real estate developer Greenland Group on the project.
