Historic Massachusetts library doubles in size

Historic Massachusetts library doubles in size

September 13, 2010
This article first appeared in the September 2010 issue of BD+C.

A 31,000-sf expansion is planned for the Woburn (Mass.) Public Library, an 18,000-sf facility designed by Henry Hobson Richardson and dating to 1876. Boston-based CBT was commissioned to preserve the historic library while upgrading and expanding the building to accommodate modern services and demand for space. The firm's designs include an addition that serves as a backdrop to the historic facility. A glass walkway connects the two structures.
