Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric) ecently completed the electrical installation work at the new Life Sciences Center at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Accommodating up to 3,000 students annually beginning this fall, the 78,000-sf, three-story facility consists of thirteen classrooms and twelve high-tech laboratories, in addition to several lecture halls and faculty offices. Constructed due to the growing need for additional trained workers in the healthcare and life sciences fields, the addition of the Life Sciences Center will enable the College to serve more students, expand current programs like Nursing, and offer new programs in Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Sonography and Health Information Technology.

The Griffin Electric team was responsible for installing a 2,000 amp service, 100KW natural gas generator, as well as, several systems on-site, including fire alarm, low voltage tele/data and lighting control for over 1,000 light fixtures. 

Barton Malow Company of Alpharetta provided the Construction Management services for this project, while Cooper Cary, Inc. of Atlanta was the Architect, and ENG Group of Lilburn the Electrical Engineer. BD+C
