GREENBUILD 2011: Tile manufacturer attains third-party certification for waste recycling processes

By By BD+C Staff | October 5, 2011
All tile produced by Crossville will contain certified recycled content.

Crossville Inc. announced that it has become the first tile manufacturer in the U.S. to achieve certification of its waste recycling programs through Scientific Certification Systems, an independent, third-party certifier of recycled claims. Now all tile produced by Crossville will contain certified recycled content.

Crossville has joined with TOTO to recycle that company’s pre-consumer fired sanitary ware. All Crossville-produced products will now contain a minimum of 4% recycled content from TOTO, in addition to varying percentages of its own filtrate and fired waste. This material from TOTO has been recently certified by SCS as part of Crossville’s Fired Waste Process, marking the latest development in Crossville’s Recycling Processes program. BD+C
