A three-level, robotic parking garage will be built underneath an upcoming addition to the ZGF Architects-designed Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) clinic in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. GLY has partnered with WÖHR and subcontractor Harding Steel to build the WÖHR Multiparker 730 system.

The garage, which will solve space challenges and improve the experience for cancer patients and their families, will be the first of its kind for any medical center in the Puget Sound Region and the first of its size and scale on the West Coast. It will be built under a long, narrow 240,000-sf, five-story complex also being constructed by GLY.

Patients will be able to drop their vehicle off at a centralized valet who then will take the cars to one of the garage’s robotic lifts and platforms that shift cars vertically and horizontally until they reach a designated spot. The system will be able to park cars closer together than traditional parking spaces, with about 160-180 spots in total. It will also reduce the time and hassle of patients getting in and out of small, ramp-filled garages.

The garage is being designed to be flexible for future use, as it can be disassembled and reshaped for different uses to accommodate needs for future services.
