Gluckman Mayner Architects has completed design development for the new 200,000-sf Dineen Hall, Syracuse University College of Law. The project anchors Syracuse University’s West campus expansion with a distinctive, five-story, state-of-the-art law school facility designed to meet the exacting needs associated with legal study in the present day. The project was first announced in July 2010, and is scheduled for completion in 2014.

The design reflects an organizational clarity and professional sophistication that anticipates the user experience of students, faculty, and visitors alike. A central atrium visibly linking at the main level the building’s core elements – library, celebratory space, ceremonial courtroom – is positioned beneath a green roof that creates a seasonal outdoor terrace space, with the sky-lit vertical axis introducing natural light throughout the building. The iconic ceremonial courtroom will be visible from inside and outside the building, signifying the law school’s inherent accessibility and transparency. BD+C
