Gilbane Building Co. wins top honors at ASA Houston awards ceremony

Gilbane was also named General Contractor of the Year for the seventh time in 11 years and won the inaugural Safety Program of the Year award.

At the recently held American Subcontractors Association Houston Chapter Excellence in Construction awards ceremony, Gilbane Building Company took home awards in five of the seven categories.

Steve Crippen, Gilbane project manager for the El Paso renovation, was named Project Manager of the Year, and Gerald Moore, Gilbane superintendent, was recognized as the Project Superintendent of the Year. The El Paso Corporation Headquarters Building was named Project of the Year in the Over $15 Million category.

In addition, Gilbane was named General Contractor of the Year for the seventh time in 11 years and won the inaugural Safety Program of the Year award.

The El Paso Corporation Headquarters Building is a 45-year-old, 32-story high-rise that underwent a complete makeover of all employee areas. The project included a new 20,000-square-foot data center, new floors and ceilings, and new MEP systems. The tenant-occupied building remained fully operational throughout construction and is targeting LEED Silver. The El Paso tower renovation was designed by Gensler, winner of the Architectural/Engineering Award of the Year from ASA Houston. BD+C
