The George W. Bush Presidential Center, which will house the former president’s library and museum, plus the Bush Institute, is aiming for LEED Platinum. The 226,565-sf center, located at Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, will use locally sourced materials for its brick and limestone exteriors and stained pecan interiors. Hot water panels, solar panels, green roofs, and native landscaping will be employed. The complex will include public exhibition space, a mock-up Oval Office, a conference center, and a rose garden modeled after the White House’s. The project was designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern and landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh.
