Architecture firm Francis Cauffman has appointed Steven Stainbrook, AICP, as Director of Higher Education to grow its comprehensive design and planning services to academic institutions nationwide. Stainbrook has 16 years of experience as a strategic planner and urban designer working on complex projects on- and off-campus.
Stainbrook began his career at internationally recognized Venturi Scott Brown and Associates, and later joined Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates. He also worked as an adjunct professor of architecture for Drexel University. Stainbrook was responsible for campus planning and design for institutions such as Washington University in St. Louis, Fordham University, and CUNY Brooklyn College.
Stainbrook received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Ball State University. He then completed a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design at Harvard University. He is a member of the AIA New York Chapter, the Urban Land Institute, and the American Planning Association, among other professional organizations. Stainbrook is an adjunct professor of planning at New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, and frequently lectures at universities on planning and professional practice issues. +
