Located in Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, a new Embassy Suites by Hilton is now open. The 282 all-suite property comprises two-room suites and studio suites with panoramic views of Seattle and Elliott Bay.
The Freiheit Architecture-designed hotel is located near CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field, Pike Place Market, Pier 55, and the Seattle Art Museum. The hotel is composed of two glass towers; one that houses the six-story atrium lobby, guest amenities, and guest rooms and suites above, and one that houses the 7,433-sf King Street Ballroom (which can hold up to 600 people), an outdoor event terrace, indoor pool, and leased office space.
Additional amenities include a health club with a heated indoor pool, an exercise room and sun deck, an upper work loft, and an outdoor courtyard. Each room comes equipped with an HDTV, wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, and complimentary WiFi.
Degen & Degen provided interior design services for the project and SoDo Builders was the gernal contractor.

10% of world's skyscraper construction on hold
Emporis, the largest provider of global building data worldwide, reported that 8.7% of all skyscrapers listed as "under construction" in its database had been put on hold. Most of these projects have been halted in the second half of 2008. According to Emporis statistics, the United States had been hit the worst: at the beginning of 2008, "Met 3" in Miami was the only U.S. skyscraper listed as being "on hold". The Joule Hotel

The Joule Hotel in Dallas, designed by local firm Coburn & Smith, was constructed in 1927 as the Dallas National Bank Building. Originally one of the finest examples of gothic revival architecture in Texas, it had had most of its gothic elements removed over the years after being converted into an office building and later abandoned. What was left had fallen into disrepair.

ASHRAE introduces building energy label prototype
Most of us know the fuel efficiency of our cars, but what about our buildings? ASHRAE is working to change that, moving one step closer today to introducing its building energy labeling program with release of a prototype label at its 2009 Annual Conference in Louisville, Ky.
