Dominium Development and Acquisition completes renovation of Messenger Towers Senior Apartments, a Section 8 apartment complex

August 11, 2010

MINNEAPOLIS - (January 26, 2009) — Dominium Development and Acquisition, LLC announced today the completion of a major renovation of an aging apartment community designed specifically to serve seniors and disabled persons in need of affordable housing.

Messenger Towers Senior Apartments was built in 1973 under the Section 8 project-based housing program.  This federal housing program subsidizes rent for low-income residents who meet the age and disability requirements.  Dominium purchased the project in August 2007, renewing the Section 8 HAP contract and thereby ensuring the property would be able to continue to effectively serve those in need of affordable housing for at least an additional 30 years.

“We are excited to complete this extensive project,” says Jeff Huggett, project partner, Dominium Development & Acquisition, LLC.  “This property has received a much needed face-lift and we’re excited for our residents to enjoy the new changes.”

Residents of Messenger Towers Senior Apartments are excited to take advantage of the remodeled community room with fireplace and a full kitchen.  Residents also will enjoy a new fitness center, beauty and manicure shop, lounge with library and computer lab, craft and sewing room as well as an onsite service coordinator.  The apartments at Messenger Towers have been updated with new hardwood cabinets, countertops and tile in the kitchen, new energy efficient appliances, updated lighting fixtures, new bedroom and living room carpet, new windows and vertical blinds and new vinyl flooring in the bathrooms. The common areas are renovated with new lighting, flooring and painting, adding warmth and a more updated appearance, making the community a pleasant environment for residents and their guests.
