Dome goes up on Oklahoma State Capitol

Dome goes up on Oklahoma State Capitol

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Work is under way on the construction of a dome for the Oklahoma State Capitol, built beginning in 1914. According to Gov. Frank Keating, the capitol is the only one in America that was designed for a dome but lacks one, originally because of lack of funds.

An entire Web site has been set up to discuss the work. On that site is a Web cam so that viewers can see the dome go up.

Included are a history of the project, 3-D design animation, construction photos and a host of other tidbits. Go to www.oklahomadome.com for the latest information on this unique project.
