DOE releases new efficiency standards for halide lamps

DOE releases new efficiency standards for halide lamps

The standards will help reduce harmful carbon pollution by up to 28 million metric tons of the next 30 years, according to the DOE.

By BD+C Staff | January 31, 2014

The Energy Department has finalized new energy efficiency standards for metal halide lamp fixtures, which are used in lighting for big box stores and parking lots.

Over 30 years, these standards will help reduce harmful carbon pollution by up to 28 million metric tons–equivalent to the annual electricity use of 3.9 million homes, the Department says.
