DMR Architects completed architectural design and construction administration services for the new Municipal Court and Parking Authority building in North Bergen, N.J. The project consisted of a $4 million renovation to a 2-story building totaling 13,000-sf.
The building used to occupy a TD Bank branch. This project was important to the Township because the former court space was outdated and undersized as the court shared space with the Police Department in Town Hall. The building offers more space for long lines for the court and more parking, which are two big issues in this small urban community.
The North Bergen Municipal Court is a high volume operation, and with the recent State Legislation requiring courtrooms to be more secured and safe, the new facility will be able to address all of the requirements for the safety of the judge, staff and public.
The building officially opened for business on Monday, July 23rd. +
