New York-based Millennium Partners have agreed to dig a trench on a Hollywood, Calif., property to help determine whether an earthquake fault runs under it. State law bars the construction of buildings on faults, which can rip buildings in half as one side of the fault thrusts past the other. The developers said they would not construct a planned skyscraper at the site if a fault is found.
