The U.S. Department of Energy recently launched the Better Climate Challenge, a partnership with organizations that set portfolio-wide, greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals of 50% or more by 2030.

The program is open to companies, states, municipalities, multifamily housing owners, and other organizations. Participants agree to work with DOE to share pathways for reducing operational carbon to address climate change. They will be recognized for their leadership.

DOE will support partners through “robust technical assistance, roadmaps, and convening peer-to-peer sharing of solutions.” Participants are required to report carbon reduction data for 10 years.

More than 35 organizations have already signed up to participate.
