After more than a decade of planning, Burleson, Texas, has broken ground on a two-story, 65,000-sf recreation center to serve its growing community. The $17.4 million facility will feature two 1,400-sf meeting rooms equipped with audiovisual capabilities; a trellised patio for large group events; an indoor swimming area complete with water slides, vortex pools, and a lazy river; a 10,000-sf aerobics center; and a 1/20th of a mile suspended walking track above the gym. The Building Team includes: GSBS Architects, Fort Worth, Texas; Yarger Design Group, Manchester, Mo.; and general contractor Hill & Wilkinson, Ltd., Plano. Completion: March 2010.
