Skanska USA announced that its joint venture with Trident Construction has been awarded a $110 million contract from the City of Charleston, S.C. for renovation and new construction services at the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium.

The city council voted for this project unanimously and also approved the addition of a $650,000 city emergency operations center and $1 million in updates to the existing greenspace along Calhoun Street in Charleston.  

The Gaillard Center project includes the addition of a 1,800 seat multi-purpose auditorium, a 38,715-sf exhibit hall that includes a multi-function exhibit space, meeting rooms, kitchen and support space and a new three-story 80,800-sf municipal office building for City employees.The Skanska Trident team will be responsible for working with the owner and architect for program management, quality control management, scheduling and cost estimating. 

Seeking LEED Silver certification, the project will begin in August and is slated for completion in December 2014. +
