The San Diego Community College District's $1.555 billion construction program continues with groundbreaking for a 6,000-sf police substation and an 828-space, four-story parking structure at San Diego Miramar College. Harley Ellis Devereaux, in association with International Parking Design and Schmidt Design Group, designed the structures, while McCarthy Building Cos. is serving as GC. The Building Team is going for LEED Platinum certification, and incorporating such green elements as landscaping with xeriscape, green roof, a high-efficiency irrigation system, and terra cotta rain screen.
