Construction is moving along on Hudson County Community College’s North Hudson Campus Center in Union City, N.J. The seven-story, 92,000-sf building will be the first higher education facility in the city. It will house classrooms, offices, labs, a media center, a campus store, and a fitness center. Architectural highlights include a six-story curved curtain wall and a 100-foot-high clock tower. A glass-enclosed pedestrian bridge will connect to an NJ Transit bus depot and the Bergenline Avenue Station of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. LEED certification is the goal, with such features as low-flow plumbing fixtures, rainwater harvesting tanks, light shelves, and a photovoltaic rooftop. RSC Architects, Cliffside Park, N.J., is providing planning, design, and construction administration services.
