November 1, 2010

The Institution Recycling Network has awarded Columbia University recognition in being a significant contributor to the Surplus Reuse Program, which keeps unused, unwanted, and surplus furniture and office fixtures out of the landfills and sending it where it’s needed. Between 2008 and 2010, Columbia University managed to collect and ship more than 4,400 pieces of surplus furniture, totaling over 228 tons, to relief efforts in six countries.
