Central Park Tower has officially topped out in New York City. The building, once completed, will be the tallest residential tower in the world at 1,550 feet.

As the skyscraper reached its final height of 1,550 feet, it also surpassed another notable milestone, usurping the Willis Tower’s claim to having the highest roof in the western hemisphere. At 1,550 feet, Central Park Tower’s roof rises 97 feet above the Chicago skyscraper’s 1,453-foot-tall roof.

The tower is located on Manhattan’s Billionaire’s Row just steps from Central Park and will include 179 residential units. Rising from a podium base that features a 320,000-sf Nordstrom store, the tower cantilevers to the east at a height of 300 feet to create views of Central Park for all north-facing residences.

Adrian Smith+Gordon Gill Architecture designed the building.
