Just eight years after opening the Santiago Calatrava-designed City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, local authorities say the seven-building complex is falling apart, according to a report by The Telegraph. Ā Ā
The latest episode occurred last week, when pieces of mosaic faƧade fell off the development's main opera house (Palau de las Artes) during high winds. City officials cited other issues, including a smooth dome exterior that has started to wrinkle.
Government authorities announced Friday that they plan to sue Calatrava for the cost of repairs. His firm was paid nearly 100 million euros for its work on the development.Ā
