The residents of Silver Spring, Md., will soon have a new library. Plans for the 112,000-sf building designed by The Lukmire Partnership, Arlington, Va., include space for a 65,000-sf library—four times the size of the current library—plus an arts center and county offices. The design will accommodate traditional book and reference collections, plus new media and comfortable seating areas. The project is aiming for LEED Silver certification.
