The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International has released its latest floor measurement standard for office buildings, BOMA 2024 for Office Buildings – ANSI/BOMA Z65.1-2024.

The updated standard includes many new features, enhancements, and clarifications since the release of the 2017 edition. It is intended exclusively for office buildings, regardless of the nature of the businesses they house. It applies to various commercial, medical, institutional, and life science uses.

The standard can be used for single-tenant, multi-tenant, or multi-building configurations, and is suitable for measuring new, existing, and proposed office buildings. The primary purpose of the BOMA Office Standard is to calculate Rentable Area, a crucial metric in office leasing.

The standard also provides area figures useful for space utilization analysis, valuation, benchmarking, and allocating building expenses across different cost centers.
