The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International announced support for voluntary energy benchmarking, but said it opposes mandates for benchmarking, disclosure, and labeling that many states and municipalities are implementing. The organization says it encourages its members to benchmark their buildings at least annually using EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager platform or similar programs. BOMA would like to see the creation of a national model building energy performance program based on the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager platform to avoid “a patchwork of differing regulations from location to location.”
