Best of Britain: 56 buildings make it to the RIBA Stirling Prize's longlist

The longlist for the 2014 prize includes Foster + Partners' Marseille and London's now-famous Shard, designed by Renzo Piano.

Awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Stirling Prize is an annual £20,000 prize awarded for the best British architecture of the year.

The longlist for the 2014 prize, including everything from Foster + Partners' Marseille to London's now-famous Shard, designed by Renzo Piano, has been released, leaving onlookers to speculate about the award's final recipient. The shortlist will be announced on the 17th of July, and the winner will be announced on the 16th of October.
