London-based firm Avery Associates ArchitectsĀ has unveiled designs for a 270-meter tower,Ā dubbed the No. 1 Undershaft, planned adjacent to the city'sĀ Leadenhall Building (aka, the cheesegrater).Ā
ArchDaily reports that the tower is planned to be the tallest in Londonās central skyscraper cluster, and second tallest in London after the Shard.
The tower will slope toward the peak to preserve views of St. Paulās Cathedral from Fleet Street. About halfway down the body of the building, the slope on the south-facing side stops and starts sloping inward to the ground floor, creating a public plaza at the buildingās entrance.
According to ArchDaily, the unnamed developer is still seeking funding for the project.
