The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is conducting a public comment period on the update to ASCE/SEI 29-XX Standard Calculation Methods for Structural Fire Protection.
The calculation methods in the document are intended to produce fire resistance rating times that are equivalent to the results obtained from the standard fire test, ASTM E119, according to an ASCE news release. The calculation methods are for use as an alternative to laboratory test results.
The calculation methods are applicable only to structural steel, plain concrete, reinforced concrete, timber and wood, concrete masonry, and clay masonry. The public comment period will be held from June 24, 2019 to August 8, 2019.
