James Breagy has been appointed director of sales metro New York for Allsteel Inc.
Breagy is responsible for overseeing this region’s sales team while strategically coordinating the sales efforts of Allsteel dealers and representatives in the tri-state area.
Breagy moves into this position with 22 years of industry experience, seven of them with Allsteel. Most recently he was the company’s Northeast region manager, based in Boston. He will be relocating to the New York metro area in June and work from the company’s new Resource Center at 79 Madison Avenue, floor 14. BD+C

Smithsonian building $45 million green lab
Thanks to a $45 million federal appropriation to the Smithsonian Institution, the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, Md., has broken ground on what is expected to be one of the most energy-efficient laboratories in the country. The 69,000-sf lab is targeting LEED Gold and is expected to use 37% less energy and emit 37% less carbon dioxide than a similar building.
