AIA Chicago & AIA Chicago Foundation 2011 Dubin Family Young Architect Award announced

The Dubin Family Young Architect Award is bestowed annually and recognizes excellence in ability and exceptional contributions by a Chicago architect between the ages of 25 and 39.

The Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Chicago) and the AIA Chicago Foundation announced that Tristan d’Estree Sterk, AIA, is the winner of the 2011 Dubin Family Young Architect Award.

Sterk, 37, is a principal at the Office for Robotic Architectural Media & Bureau for Responsive Architecture (ORAMBRA) and an assistant professor at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Dubin Family Young Architect Award is bestowed annually and recognizes excellence in ability and exceptional contributions by a Chicago architect between the ages of 25 and 39.  

Sterk began his career as a design architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP in Chicago. From 2006 to 2008, he worked at Busby Perkins+Will in Vancouver.  He earned his bachelor of architecture in 1999 from The University of Adelaide, Australia. In 2004, Sterk earned a master in fine arts specializing in emerging technologies from The School of the Art Institute in Chicago. BD+C
