New product line brings wide-plank wood floors to any commercial space, with a twist.
While made of real wood, the product incorporates an acrylic-infused top layer that makes the floor 300% more durable than standard wood, according to the maker. The 7½-inch-wide planks are available in multiple varieties of plain-sawn white oak, which is popular among hospitality, retail, and restaurant projects. The collection is made of Baltic birch plywood, UV-cured ceramic urethane, and an acrylic infusion.
The product is low-emitting for VOCs and CARB Phase 2 compliant, and FloorScore rated. Chain of custody has been certified by Scientific Certification Systems to Forest Stewardship Council standards.

10% of world's skyscraper construction on hold
Emporis, the largest provider of global building data worldwide, reported that 8.7% of all skyscrapers listed as "under construction" in its database had been put on hold. Most of these projects have been halted in the second half of 2008. Three Opus Corporation companies file for bankruptcy
Opus Corporation, a developer headquartered in Minnetonka, Minn., filed for bankruptcy in three of its five regional operating companies: Opus East, Opus South, and Opus West. CEO Mark Rauenhorst said sharp declines in commercial real estate values and tight credit markets caused difficulties in refinancing assets and restructuring lending agreements.
