A new CetraRuddy-designed tower has broken ground in the South Bronx at 2413 3rd Avenue.

The 27-story, 145,643-sf community will feature 200 rental units, 60 of which will be set aside as affordable for middle-income households, and help activate the growing waterfront area with new housing options and retail services. The design takes inspiration from the surrounding content of the South Bronx, with the movement of the building volumes creating sculptural reference to Mott Haven as the birthplace of hip hop.

Highlights of the building include an extensive integrated art program and a focus on incorporating nature through indoor/outdoor connections and a series of landscaped outdoor amenity spaces. Other design and program elements include open-concept cafe and gallery space on the ground floor, a fitness center, a gaming space, rooftop grilling, flexible common spaces, 81 on-site enclosed parking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations, 721 sf of retail space, and stainless steel appliances, white oak flooring, matte black iron fixtures, and subway tiling in every apartment.

The tower is centrally located within walking distance of the 4/5/6 transit lines and one block from the Major Deegan Expressway. RXR is the project’s developer. The project is slated for completion in 2023.
