The Exploration Tower in Port Canaveral dazzles visitors
With a mission to provide the experience of a lifetime, the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral, Fla., is designed to inspire, as visitors learn about the history and nature of the port and beyond.
Opened in November 2013, this seven-story building is one of central Florida's newest attractions and is part of the Canaveral Cove's revitalization. Young minds enjoy hands-on learning, by navigating waterways, watching a rocket launch, and viewing an interactive movie on a two-story screen.
The exterior is just as captivating as the interior of this sail-shaped structure. The tower has an iridescent exterior that seems to changes color when viewed from different angles or light. The Exploration Tower features the new Kameleon Color mica coating by Valspar, sprayed on Firestone Metal Products' UNA-CLAD metal panels by Linetec.
The multicolored system contains mica flakes for an innovative gradient appearance. A combination of ceramic and inorganic pigments achieves the rich, pearlescent color. This striking structure soars up from the water with a 60-foot steel frame that creates a peak above the main roof level.
With so many creative features, a visit to Port Canaveral's new landmark is a memorable experience, inside and out.
